Skanska UK are looking for an Apprentice machinist to complete a Level 3 Machining Technician apprenticeship. As an Apprentice machinist, you will become a part of the Cementation Skanska team, where our mission is to prepare you for a successful and rewarding career!

Role & responsibilities

Alongside our experienced engineers and construction professionals, and with the appropriate support and guidance, you will:

  • Develop skills and competence in manufacturing processes, and machinery including lathes, Milling machines and CNC equipment, from drawing to completion
  • Deal with ancillary plant items from a manufacturing and repair perspective
  • Promote new ideas concerning engineering / manufacturing innovations and the development of appropriate engineering solution
  • Operate tooling and equipment involved in the engineering and manufacturing process

Things to consider:

During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial block of study. You will return to your workplace one Friday per month. After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study. The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job.

Qualification Requirements:

Advanced Apprenticeships entry requirements

You will need both of the following:

  • GCSE English language C or 4 or above
  • GCSE Maths C or 4 or above.

Applicants are also required to successfully complete a series of assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, as well as an employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme.
