William Lee are looking for an apprentice maintenance engineer to complete a Level 3 mechatronics maintenance apprenticeship to join their team. The candidate's duties and responsibilities will vary based on the company’s requirements with structure. The candidate will build their knowledge in a busy foundry environment, and this is therefore the basis of the candidate becoming the next generation of engineer. 

Role & responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all work is completed to a high standard, whilst complying with the Company’s Health and Safety requirements to ensure the safety of yourself and others
  • To conduct risk assessments on all jobs in the form of 'Take Two’
  • Communicate effectively with peers and management
  • To work as part of the Maintenance Team ensuring all equipment is operating efficiently and safely
  • Become fluent in the Company TPM maintenance system (Total Productive Maintenance) to ensure efficient running of plant assets
  • Ensure that the working area is clean and tidy on completion of any job/task
  • To install and maintain new and existing equipment, whilst ensuring production is not interrupted
  • To put forward and communicate ideas and get involved with plant improvement

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Ensure compliance with the company’s health and safety and environmental policies, ensuring these are understood and upheld
  • Ensure that you are always equipped with the correct personal protective equipment and is properly looked after and maintained
  • Ensure that all accidents are reported and recorded in the accident book
  • Ensure any spillages are cleared up immediately and the correct emergency equipment is always available

William Lee makes iron castings for a wide variety of international customers including BMW, Mercedes, Daimler, Borg, Castings and GT.

With four foundries on site and over 400 personnel, there will be plenty of opportunities for you to learn about the company as a whole and you will be mentored directly by our skilled team while studying a Level 3 qualification with our training provider, AMRC Training Centre.

Things to consider:

During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial block of study.  You will return to your workplace one Friday per month.  After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study. The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job.

Qualification Requirements:

Advanced Apprenticeships entry requirements

You will need both of the following:

  • GCSE English language C or 4 or above
  • GCSE Maths C or 4 or above.

Applicants are also required to successfully complete a series of assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, as well as an employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme.
