The Integrated Manufacturing Group (IMG), within the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) is looking for an Apprentice mechatronics integration technician to complete a level 3 mechatronics maintenance apprenticeship to help support work activities.

Upon completion of the apprenticeship, you will be expected to meet the following skills and qualities criteria:

  • Work independently to provide desired outcomes
  • Ability to make decisions confidently
  • Manage time effectively and ensure all work is completed to a high standard
  • High level of self-motivation to ensure all shop floor tasks are carried out to the AMRC’s exacting standards
  • Have a thorough understanding of the AMRC’s capability and current projects

Role & responsibilities

  • Health and Safety & general housekeeping
  • Electrical control panel design, build, and testing
  • Integration of electrical and mechanical hardware in automation systems
  • PLC and Robot programming
  • Automation cell building
  • Maintenance procedures
  • Quality procedures
  • Generic work experience activities to consolidate previous learning

Things to consider:

During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial block of study. You will return to your workplace one Friday per month. After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study. The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job.

Qualification Requirements:

Advanced Apprenticeships entry requirements

You will need both of the following:

  • GCSE English language C or 4 or above
  • GCSE Maths C or 4 or above.

Applicants are also required to successfully complete a series of assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, as well as an employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme.
