AESSEAL plc are looking for a CAM/CNC machining apprentice to complete a Level 3 Machining Technician apprenticeship. The successful candidate will generate and verify CNC programs for the various machine tools within AESSEAL using NX CAM software, eventually moving onto shifts after a period of training and development.

Role & responsibilities

  • To generate CNC programs using Siemens NX to run on AESSEAL machine tools
  • Verify CAM generated programs using Vericut Software
  • Work on tool, method and production standards
  • Regular liaison with workshops
  • Regular liaison with Design
  • Review and save proven programs onto Teamcenter
  • Collaborate with workshop personnel/managers on new machine methods
  • Work shifts (to be discussed/agreed)

Skills required:

  • Technically versatile with an ability to attend to detail
  • An excellent communicator, both written and oral
  • Good organisational skills
  • Can work to tight deadlines whilst under pressure
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team
  • Good understanding of technical/engineering terms
  • Machining experience on lathes and/or milling machines
  • IT literate

Things to consider:

During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial block of study. You will return to your workplace one Friday per month. After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study. The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job.

Qualification Requirements:

Advanced Apprenticeships entry requirements

You will need both of the following:

  • GCSE English language C or 4 or above
  • GCSE Maths C or 4 or above.

Applicants are also required to successfully complete a series of assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, as well as an employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme.
