Nuclear Energy Components are looking for a machinist apprentice to complete a level 3 machinist technician apprenticeship.

Role & responsibilities:

As an apprentice CNC machinist, the candidate will be learning to manufacture stainless steel components on a variety of CNC machines, including Puma lathes, Puma Doosan mx Multi axis mill turns Haas lathes and milling machines and Mori-Seiki machining centres, while undergoing your training which is a mixture of full-time at the AMRC training centre followed by day release and on the job training.
Once qualified the candidate will operate the above machines while performing in-process inspection checks using a variety of gauges, micrometres and Vernier measuring equipment as well as deburring of machined components while maintaining high standards of workshop organisation and high health and safety standards.
As a small team we like the ability to be flexible and so further on-the-job training opportunities such as welding and inspection can be taken up so that the candidate becomes a versatile, flexible and highly-skilled member of our team.

Things to consider:

During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial block of study. You will return to your workplace one Friday per month. After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study. The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job.

Qualification Requirements:

Advanced Apprenticeships entry requirements

You will need both of the following:

  • GCSE English language C or 4 or above
  • GCSE Maths C or 4 or above.

Applicants are also required to successfully complete a series of assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, as well as an employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme.
