Palamatic Limited are looking for an Apprentice Fitter to complete a Level 3 Engineering Fitter apprenticeship and join their team. This role sits within the Pharma and Lifter assembly teams, assisting with the build of bespoke and standard mechanical materials handling machinery for both industrial vacuum lifters and stainless steel pharmaceutical-grade equipment.
The Apprentice will also work within locked stores helping with sub-assembly build, inspection, packing, stores and stock replenishment, and kitting of parts.
There will be the opportunity to work with some electrical components and pneumatic components with the majority of the work being purely mechanical.
Palamatic is an engineering company which is going through change and growth having been bought out by an international German engineering company in January 2022. It is an exciting time to join the team and there will be many opportunities to learn and develop exceptional engineering and production skills.
Role & responsibilities:
- Assemble and build all components detailed out on a parts list / works order
- Notify stock shortages
- Request stock parts from Stores
- Produce work instructions for all new tasks in conjunction with managers/team leader
- Maintain and update existing work instructions
- Use job box system (on lifters) and follow procedure if parts are required from a job box to be used on another job (authorisation from director is required)
- Build simple / standard pneumatic circuits as part of the machine build process
- Test equipment to performance checklists and sign off with Team Leader for compliance
- Apply strict quality control standards to your work
- Promptly notify management if components / equipment does not pass tests for further action keeping open communication at all stages
- Feedback any quality issues to management
- Complete timesheets daily and pass back weekly
- Be aware of and operate to the company’s Health & safety code of conduct for yourself and others
- Achieve overall quality levels required by Palamatic when sending out equipment to customers in the UK and world-wide

Things to consider:
During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial block of study. You will return to your workplace one Friday per month. After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study. The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job.

Advanced Apprenticeships entry requirements
You will need both of the following:
- GCSE English language C or 4 or above
- GCSE Maths C or 4 or above.
Applicants are also required to successfully complete a series of assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, as well as an employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme.
