Arnold Magnetic Technologies Limited are looking for an Apprentice Machinist to complete a level 3 Machining Technician apprenticeship. The candidate will develop the skills, knowledge, and experience required to become a fully competent CNC Machinist. The role combines formal training at the AMRC Training Centre with hands-on practical experience within the company, contributing to the manufacture of precision-engineered components
Role & responsibilities
- Undertake structured training at the AMRC Training Centre to learn CNC machining techniques, programming, and engineering principles
- Support the manufacturing team by assisting in the setup, operation, and monitoring of CNC machines under supervision
- Follow standard operating procedures to ensure quality and consistency in machined components
- Maintain accurate training logs, records, and reports as required by the apprenticeship programme
- Adhere to company health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times
- Assist with basic machine maintenance, housekeeping, and workshop organisation
- Work collaboratively with engineers, machinists, and team leaders to gain practical exposure to industry practices
- Take part in personal development reviews and assessments to monitor progress throughout the apprenticeship
- Demonstrate a proactive attitude to learning, problem solving, and continuous improvement

Things to consider:
During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial block of study. You will return to your workplace one Friday per month. After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study. The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job.

Advanced Apprenticeships entry requirements
You will need both of the following:
- GCSE English language C or 4 or above
- GCSE Maths C or 4 or above.
Applicants are also required to successfully complete a series of assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, as well as an employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme.
