Teledyne UK Limited are looking for an Apprentice Team Worker to complete a Level 3 Composite Technician apprenticeship and join their team. The successful applicant will be given a full, well-rounded understanding of the Composites Manufacturing process, both on the shop floor, and in departments which are indirectly related to production, such as Inspection, Engineering and Estimating.

This apprenticeship will include on-the-job training at our site in Bromborough & one day per week of online study with the University of Sheffield AMRC.

During this 3½ year apprenticeship, each individual will be gain full training in all production departments, eventually being able to decide on a project area to complete the final module of the Apprenticeship. 

Role & responsibilities:

  • Health & Safety Environmental and sustainability regulations
  • Composite material definitions
  • Types of reinforcement/matrix materials
  • Pre-processing activities (e.g. mould tool preparation)
  • Composite manufacturing processes
  • Practical hand lay-up techniques
  • Practical automated lay-up techniques
  • Tooling and product design
  • Quality assurance procedure
  • Composites defect identification

Things to consider:

During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial block of study.  You will return to your workplace one Friday per month.  After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study. The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job.

Advanced Apprenticeships entry requirements

You will need both of the following:

  • GCSE English language C or 4 or above
  • GCSE Maths C or 4 or above.

Applicants are also required to successfully complete a series of assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, as well as an employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme.
