Job description:
Capital Compactors Limited are looking for a Hydraulic, electrical and mechanical fitter apprentice to complete a Level 3 Engineering Fitter apprenticeship and join their team. The candidate will be working within a team responsible for fitting electrical, hydraulic and mechanical components to waste compactors and balers.
Role & responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate records of build and repair work for industry safety regulations
- Collaborate with engineers and other team members to improve system efficiency
- Work with PLC Systems and electrical wiring
- Installation of hydraulic cylinders & performing pressure testing
- Wiring up hydraulic powerpacks according to electrical & Hydraulic schematics
- Install electrical components such as relays, sensors, switches and control panels
- Connect motors, pumps and valves to power and control circuits
- Perform testing and troubleshooting of powerpack electrical systems
- Identify and resolve faults in wiring or electrical control systems
Skills required:
- Excellent attention to detail and precision in work
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Good problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools and measuring instruments

Things to consider:
During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial block of study. You will return to your workplace one Friday per month. After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study. The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job.

Qualification Requirements:
Advanced Apprenticeships entry requirements
You will need both of the following:
- GCSE English language C or 4 or above
- GCSE Maths C or 4 or above.
Applicants are also required to successfully complete a series of assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, as well as an employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme.
