MTL Advanced Limited are looking for a Machinist apprentice to complete a Level 3 Machinist apprenticeship and join their team. The candidate will gain knowledge of specific equipment operating parameters, manufacturing techniques and quality specifications. The candidate will also learn to plan the manufacturing operation, mount and set the required work holding devices, produce individual components and carry out strict quality checks
Role & responsibilities:
- Understand different types of material (Carbon Steel, Armour Steel, Aluminium and other metals)
- Learn setting, programming and operating machinery to craft parts
- Learn to supervise machines during the operation, making real time adjustments
- Read, understand and interpret engineer drawings, technical specifications and route cards
- Work with jigs and fixtures
- Machine parts to customer specification
- Record and complete contract documents, time sheets and other documentation
- Quality check components for precision
- Continual check of efficiency levels on machines
- Ensure all Safety / Rules / Standards are adhered to, ensuring correct Personal Protective Equipment is worn at all times
- All machine and personal safety procedures to be followed at all times
- Ensure the parts are routed correctly to the next part of the process in a timely manner

Things to consider:
During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial block of study. You will return to your workplace one Friday per month. After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study. The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job.

Qualification Requirements:
Advanced Apprenticeships entry requirements
You will need both of the following:
- GCSE English language C or 4 or above
- GCSE Maths C or 4 or above.
Applicants are also required to successfully complete a series of assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, as well as an employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme.
