E.ON UK are looking for a Maintenance engineering apprentice to complete a Level 3 mechatronics maintenance technician apprenticeship and join their team. Role & responsibilities:

This apprenticeship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience. The candidate will work in an engineering environment, learning to maintain and repair complex systems while ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting planned and reactive maintenance to minimise downtime
  • Performing mechanical repairs, including welding and fabrication
  • Diagnosing faults using electrical drawings and testing equipment
  • Supporting continuous improvement projects to enhance performance and efficiency

This role is hands-on, so you'll need to be ready to work in an industrial environment. Strict adherence to PPE requirements is essential.

Things to consider:

During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre based in Catcliffe, Sheffield, for an initial block of full-time study.  One Friday per month you will return to your workplace.  After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study.  The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job.

Unless exemptions apply, year 1 apprentices are required to live full time in Sheffield for 24 weeks in university accommodation so that they can attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield. 

Future programme years apprentices are required to continue attending the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, for example, 1 day per month which will require travel and overnight hotel accommodation.

Advanced Apprenticeships entry requirements

You will need both of the following:

  • GCSE English language C or 4 or above
  • GCSE Maths C or 4 or above.

Applicants are also required to successfully complete a series of assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, as well as an employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme.
