Magnomatics Limited are looking for a Mechanical fitter apprentice to complete a Level 3 Engineering fitter apprenticeship and join their team.
Role & responsibilities:
- Machine builds; from materials delivery to ready-for-test stage from engineering drawings
- Small-batch production - builds, fitting, and assembly
- Prototype builds
- Learning about research and development of products
- Learning about problem solving and overcoming challenges
- Build readiness – translating designs into finished products
- Control of build quality – learn how to inspect components, including reporting on these and raising any problems
- Development of your knowledge and supporting continuous improvement in the business
- Support of stores function - control of incoming materials and production orders
- Recording of day-to-day activities – route cards and time sheets
- General maintenance tasks for an efficient, safe and clean workshop environment
Skills required:
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- IT skills (MS Office – Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel)
Personal qualities the candidate must have:
- Interest in rotating machinery (engines, transmissions)
- Interest in technology, renewable energies and sustainability
- Interest in or experience of basic assembly techniques
- Interest in working with machine tools

Magnomatics have been at the heart of the electrical revolution since 2006. We provide design and analysis services and manufacture a wide range of electrical machines and related products.
Things to consider:
During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial block of study. You will return to your workplace one Friday per month. After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study. The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job.

Advanced Apprenticeships entry requirements
You will need both of the following:
- GCSE English language C or 4 or above
- GCSE Maths C or 4 or above.
Applicants are also required to successfully complete a series of assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, as well as an employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme.
