Finsbury Food Group are looking for a Multi-skilled Apprentice Engineerto complete a Level 3 Mechatronics Maintenance Technician apprenticeship and join their team.

  • Role & responsibilities:
  • Being adaptable - Following a structured plan to spend time on each plant so you can understand the process and equipment
  • Read and interpret relevant data and documentation used to maintain components, equipment and systems
  • To carry out PPM and maintenance activities on scheduled maintenance days
  • Having a proactive view and assisting with cleaning as you go to ensure that all work areas are kept to a high degree of cleanliness
  • Some general lifting of equipment and parts but in manageable loads, with manual handling training provided
  • Working/assisting all members of the engineering team, to gain experience from them and knowledge of the equipment they are working on
  • Through the course of the apprenticeship, become trained on all process equipment and how this is set up / used safely. You will be required to successfully perform fault diagnosis on electrical, mechanical, fluid and process control systems
  • To engage with and champion automation and efficiency within the manufacturing environment. Do this through involvement in suggestion scheme and excellence projects
  • Through the course of the apprenticeship, become knowledgeable in key engineering techniques and good practises
  • Incorporate multi skilling as part of everyday working practice to improve the running of manufacturing equipment. You will be required to run your own improvement project and validate the benefit
  • To report daily to the engineering shift manager, mentor or course tutor
  • To respect Company and Training Centre property, and to handle all equipment with care
  • To report to your workplace on time each day
  • To carry out all study work required to complete the apprenticeship both within the normal work hours and out of hours if required
  • To carry out all work activity in a safe manner, not putting yourself or others at risk and ensuring your work area is kept clean and tidy

Things to consider:

During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial block of study.  You will return to your workplace one Friday per month.  After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study. The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job.

Advanced Apprenticeships entry requirements

You will need both of the following:

  • GCSE English language C or 4 or above
  • GCSE Maths C or 4 or above.

Applicants are also required to successfully complete a series of assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, as well as an employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme.
