Greens Power Ltd are looking for a Quality Assurance Apprentice to complete a level 3 Engineering & Manufacturing Support Technician apprenticeship. This role will support the Quality Assurance team in ensuring that Greens Power Ltd maintains the highest standards of product quality and compliance throughout its manufacturing processes. The role is designed to provide hands-on experience in quality control, inspection, documentation, and continuous improvement, whilst undertaking formal technical training through the AMRC Training Centre. The apprentice will work towards a nationally-recognised qualification in Engineering, while gaining industry experience in a safety-critical, precision-engineering environment.
Role & responsibilities
Under supervision and with progressive responsibility as competence increases, the QA Apprentice will:
- Support the inspection and verification of manufactured components to ensure they meet specified engineering drawings, standards, and customer requirements
- Support the inspection of weld inspections
- Assist in the use of a range of measuring and testing equipment (e.g. micrometres, verniers, gauges, CMM) and accurately record findings
- Observe and participate in the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) process, helping to identify root causes and propose corrective actions
- Assist in internal and external quality audits, including preparation of documentation, data gathering, and supporting audit actions
- Contribute to calibration control, checking that all equipment is appropriately maintained and recorded
- Support document control processes, including archiving of quality records, inspection reports, and certification
- Help to maintain and improve Quality Management Systems (QMS), in line with ISO 9001 and other applicable standards
- Participate in continuous improvement activities such as 5S, problem solving, and standardisation initiatives
- Attend and contribute to team meetings, toolbox talks, and quality briefings as required
- Adhere to health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures at all times
- Attend training sessions in line with the apprenticeship programme schedule and complete all assignments and assessments to the required standard
- Provide support to other group businesses as required with some travel expected
The QA Apprentice will be supported in gaining:
- A solid foundation in engineering principles and quality assurance techniques
- Practical understanding of inspection methods and equipment
- Knowledge of industry regulations, quality standards, and customer expectations in an engineering environment
- Proficiency in technical documentation, record keeping, and communication
- Enhanced problem-solving and analytical skills related to quality issues
- Confidence working both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- A nationally recognised apprenticeship level 3 qualification
- Work towards an internationally recognised welding inspection qualification, i.e. TWI CSWIP

- A demonstrable interest in engineering, manufacturing, or quality control
- Commitment to attending off-the-job training and meeting apprenticeship milestones

Employer description:
We are the UK’s foremost drill and specialist cutting tool manufacturer, with over 50-years experience in the manufacture and development of cutting tools. We supply to a range of industries including: Aerospace, Automotive, Double Glazing and specialist industries such as Medical, Motorsport and Injection Moulding.
Things to consider:
During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial block of study. You will return to your workplace one Friday per month. After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study. The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job.

You will need both of the following:
- GCSE English language C or 4 or above
- GCSE Maths C or 4 or above.
Applicants are also required to successfully complete a series of assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, as well as an employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme.
