Our offices are closed for the holiday. You can still register for an apprenticeship, but you will receive a link to complete your application when we reopen on 2 January 2025.

Tribosonics

Tribosonics is a technology business focussed on deploying cutting edge sensing products for industrial and energy technology and production processes. It is based in Sheffield with global reach and currently employs 40 staff having grown significantly over the last three years.

Tribosonics sources its mechanical engineering apprentices exclusively from the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre. This has formed a key part of the business’ expansion with candidates being sourced through both the AMRC portal and advertising fairs with which Tribosonics actively engages.

Due to the success the business has had with AMRC Training Centre, and extremely high quality  apprentices at a very high retention moving into the workforce as employees, the company has opted against hiring graduates from more traditional degree programmes, highlighting the increased adaptability and initiative of employees sourced and trained through AMRC Training Centre’s services.

This has allowed for enhanced productivity and progression into senior roles, partially due to the reduced need for an adjustment period upon leaving academia. Tribosonics believes that this increases the career trajectory of AMRC Training Centre graduates compared to their peers highlighting two employees sourced from the programme who have entered management- with one the named inventor on a patented sensing technology.

The positive waves this contribution has made throughout the business, and the faith that the Board has in these graduates, has propelled AMRC Training Centre graduates into senior positions where these talented employees can have the greatest impact as well as an accelerated career trajectory.

“AMRC Training Centre graduates have the ability to take the knowledge they’ve gained and apply it to a wide variety of situations- unstructured situations where they can make the right decisions and have the right thought process that allows them to approach things in a positive and innovative (or creative) way.” – Matthew Harmon, Head of Engineering, Tribosonics.
