Its been a week of firsts at the AMRC Training Centre. Following the announcement of our first ever business apprentice last week yesterday was another big day for the centre as we took delivery of brand new machinery ready for our first apprentice intake.

The 160 apprentices, due to start in October, will be getting to grips with the 15 Huvema Lathes and 15 Huvema Milling Machines. A lathe is a machine tool which rotates the work piece on its axis to perform various operations such as cutting, sanding, knurling, drilling, facing and turning. Milling is the machining process of using rotary cutters to remove material from a work piece advancing in a direction at an angle with the axis of the tool.

Our apprentices will get hands on experience using this state of the art machinery as well as gaining a theoretical underpinning in engineering & manufacturing processes and enhancing their work and life skills.

There are lots more machines on order so keep checking for regular updates.
