Engineers from across the globe are switching on to free industry-focused webinars being hosted by the AMRC Training Centre, pulling in more than 1,000 registrations worldwide.

The AMRC Training Centre has been quick to adapt to the new way of working and learning brought about by the coronavirus lockdown measures and in March began offering free live metallurgy webinars delivered by expert speakers, covering a range of topics from material selection and failure modes in metals to corrosion and prevention.

The webinars are attracting a global audience of engineers from sectors such as oil and gas, defence and aerospace, who are tuning in from 45 countries including Australia, India, United States, China, Philippines, Pakistan, Switzerland and Chile to name a few.

“The pandemic has forced organisations to change over a short period of time and our industry-focused webinars have gone that extra mile in ensuring that companies can take advantage and upskill their workforce. A testament to their success is seeing people tune in to the webinars from all across the world.” said Graham Small, CPD Training Manager at the AMRC Training Centre, who delivers the live webinars.

Director of the AMRC Training Centre, Nikki Jones, added: “The webinars have been a huge success and this transition to the virtual world is already shaping our future thinking – not only on how we deliver learning to our apprentices but how we deliver our CPD courses. We’re looking to develop our digital offer further in the future as a way of reaching and engaging with an even wider audience.

“Skilled workforces will be essential for economic recovery following this pandemic and the AMRC Training Centre is well placed to support employers looking to invest and maintain skills levels to ensure they are able to revive and thrive.”

The online seminars encourage workforces and individuals who are having to work from home to use this time to continue upskilling and training to prepare them for the return to work. The webinars are not only aimed at metallurgists, but to anyone working in the engineering sector.

Due to its success, the training centre is repeating the webinar programme on Tuesday, June 16. The webinars will continue to run twice weekly, on Tuesdays at 11am and Thursdays at 2pm. Find out more about the upcoming free webinars here.
