Get up to Speed, a headline event of the 2013 Global Manufacturing Festival, was hailed a success when the doors closed on 17 April.  The event was specifically for young people, families and teachers, giving them a chance to see some of the fastest vehicles, innovations and people on earth all in one place.

The AMRC Training Centre was a sponsor and also had a stand during the day to showcase the apprenticeship and training opportunities on offer. Hundreds of young people were interested and Training Centre Director of Training, Alison Bettac, said ‘it is encouraging to see how many young people are seriously thinking about a career in engineering and manufacturing.  We cant wait to see our 150 new apprentices start on the first step of their career ladder when we open our doors in the autumn.

Nick Clegg, deputy prime minister, gave his seal of approval to the event by sending a video message to everyone that attended. He talked about how the UK is at the cutting edge of design and gave examples of the incredible innovation that is happening up and down the country. Click here to watch the video.
