The First Year Apprentice of the Year Winner 2020
Kirbi Leigh Taylor – NIKKEN
"As an apprentice service engineer, my daily duties are to carry out conversions on rotary tables. This involves changing and stamping a new name plate, doing paperwork and running a variety of tests to ensure the table runs to original manufacturer specifications. I also perform general servicing of tables.
One of my highlights has been the opportunity to escort VIPs around the training centre and show them how amazing it is and the endless amount of possibilities it has to offer. Others include winning the Spotlight Award and all the different learning opportunities, both in and out of the workshop, and key information which I now use in company. I would like to further the academic side of my apprenticeship to widen my knowledge so that I can help NIKKEN to grow and continue to be successful in the future. I would like to hold a managerial position, whether at my site or several sites around the world, following in the footsteps of our CEO Tony Bowkett."
