SCX Special Projects Limited are looking for an Apprentice Maintenance Engineer to complete a Level 3 Mechatronics Maintenance Technician apprenticeship. The candidate will work towards a structured training and development program to become a fully-qualified Electrical Maintenance Engineer.

Role & responsibilities:

The Apprentice Electrical Maintenance Engineer will learn how to, and then as confidence grows begin to:

  • Carry out electrical control system installation works, as required by the contract
  • Complete electrical fault-finding activities required during testing and commissioning works
  • Perform Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), and identify potential electrical problems
  • Take part in project modernisation work related to crane/moving structure conversion or refurbishment
  • Carry out Factory Acceptance Testing in line with the FAT documentation for the projects
  • Take responsibility for, and maintain workshop equipment, ensuring everything is in full working order
  • Work in line with SCX safety guidelines, ensuring that the correct PPE is worn at all times

Things to consider:

During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial block of study.  You will return to your workplace one Friday per month.  After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study. The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job.

Qualification Requirements:

Advanced apprenticeships entry requirements

You will need both of the following:

  • GCSE English language C or 4 or above
  • GCSE Maths C or 4 or above.

Applicants are also required to successfully complete a series of assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, as well as an employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme.
