Job description:
Paralloy and Firth Vickers are looking for a Multiskilled Maintenance Apprentice to complete a Level 3 Mechatronics Maintenance Technician apprenticeship and join their team.
The candidate will provide assistance in the development of the company’s reliability-based maintenance strategy in working independently and with other plant personnel to perform preventative, predictive and routine maintenance tasks.
Role & responsibilities:
- The maintaining of a safe electrical infrastructure
- Responding to electrical breakdowns & faults and managing planned & reactive work in a timely and logical manner
- Carry out electrical installations and the decommissioning of redundant machines
- Assist other maintenance personnel with equipment repairs and research
- Assist in the development of critically centred preventative and proactive maintenance regimes
- To maintain equipment information and service files, including the involvement in spare parts management, data entry and procurement
- Liaise with and assist in the managing of third-party contractors including issuance of Permit to Works
- Liaise and engage with stakeholders at all levels
- Working safely throughout all activities in line with Paralloy Ltd’s safety standards and procedures
Skills required:
- Good H&S and environmental awareness
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Competent working with Microsoft Office (Excel & Word)
- Good team working skills
- Good organisational and time-management skills
Personal qualities the candidate must have:
- Flexible attitude towards selection of tasks
- Willingness to cross train with colleagues
- Strong work ethic, able to demonstrate as well as set the high standards

During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial block of study. You will return to your workplace one Friday per month. After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study. The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job.

Qualification Requirements:
Advanced apprenticeships entry requirements
You will need both of the following:
- GCSE English language C or 4 or above
- GCSE Maths C or 4 or above.
Applicants are also required to successfully complete a series of assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, as well as an employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme.
