ITI Operations Limited are looking for an apprentice service engineer to complete a Level 6 control systems engineer apprenticeship and join their team.

The Apprentice Service Engineer role is designed to provide hands-on experience and foundational technical knowledge in troubleshooting, testing and maintenance of systems tailored to diverse client needs. Through a structured training program and under the mentorship of seasoned engineers, you’ll gain practical skills while working toward a relevant qualification. This role offers a unique blend of real-world application of engineering principles and opportunities for both personal and professional growth, building a strong foundation for a future career in engineering.

Role & responsibilities:

Over the length of the programme, you will:

  • Assist in the resolution of client incidents and issues, working as an integral team member contributing to the resolution of challenges
  • Assist in the maintenance of the asset management framework for all sites inclusive of software and hardware
  • Support in the maintenance of comprehensive technical documentation, including requirements, design specifications, test plans, operator manuals and quality documentation
  • Support the commissioning on customer sites, working closely with cross-functional teams, including software, hardware, and project management, to support a successful project delivery
  • Working towards the successful completion of your Apprenticeship Qualification

Skills required:

  • Good communication skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • A strong aptitude for hands-on technical work is desirable
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft software products is desirable

Personal qualities the candidate must have:

  • An interest in systems engineering principles and methodologies. Essential and required
  • An interest in electrical concepts and manufacturing processes. Essential and required
  • A full UK driving licence or indication of working towards one. Desirable
  • A passport or the ability to obtain one. Desirable
  • Candidates may be required to achieve appropriate security and medical clearances; these will be instigated on receiving a conditional offer of employment

Things to consider:

During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre based in Catcliffe, Sheffield, for an initial block of full-time study.  One Friday per month you will return to your workplace. After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study. The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job.

Unless exemptions apply, year one apprentices are required to live full time in Sheffield for 24 weeks in university accommodation so that they can attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield. 

Future programme years apprentices are required to continue attending the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, for example, one day per month which will require travel and overnight hotel accommodation.

Qualification Requirements:

Degree Apprenticeship entry requirements

You will need both of the following:

  • GCSE English language C or 4 or above
  • GCSE Maths C or 4 or above.

You will need one of the following:

  • A minimum of two A-Levels at grade B or above, including a mathematical-based subject and a science, technology, engineering or an additional mathematics-related subject

  • An Engineering BTEC Level 3 with at least 120 credits at DM (Distinction Merit) level or above

  • EAL Diploma in an engineering-based subject at D (Distinction) level

  • Equivalent qualifications such as Technical Levels at DM or above.

Candidates with an HND or Foundation Degree or who have completed the second year of a degree in a relevant subject can be assessed for direct entry onto the 2nd or 3rd year of the programme (BEng top-up), but 1st year entry or an alternative pathway may still be recommended.

Candidates who have not studied in the UK can submit transcripts for qualifications equivalent to level 3 which the admissions panel will review and may be taken in lieu of the specified qualifications.

Applicants are also required to successfully complete the AMRC Training Centre and employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme.
