Radius Aerospace Bramah are looking for a CNC Machinist Apprentice to complete a Level 3 Machining Technician apprenticeship.
The position carries the responsibility of the routine configuration and management of one or multiple multi-AXIS CNC machines. As a CNC Machinist the candidate will specialise in exotic metals; titanium, jethete and inconel.
Your responsibilities encompass the setup, operation, and maintenance of machinery dedicated to crafting custom parts for the aerospace industry. Your duties will extend to ensuring the machinery consistently yields high-calibre products, functions optimally at full capacity, and receives appropriate maintenance. This role necessitates direct engagement in CNC machine operations and will also encompass additional responsibilities as deemed necessary for the position.
This role primarily involves CNC (Computerised Numerical Control technology) and continues to evolve to meet high productivity, stringent aerospace industry quality demands. The role will also involve machining, such as grinders, lathes, milling and vertical boring of aerospace components/structures, in all pre-machining & post-machining stages, along with self inspection & gauging. You will gain a solid engineering background with an apprenticeship qualification to develop the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. As a machinist you will become used to working with both manual and CNC controls such as Fanuc, Hyderhain and Siemens.
Role & responsibilities:
- Load, run, and operate multiple multi-AXIS CNC machines, including any required supporting processes
- Ability to read and interpret drawings
- Able to use a variety of measuring equipment to check conformity of parts
- Used to working to fine tolerances in a range of materials
- Maintain a safe, organised, and clean work area
- Responsible for the inspection of completed operations using equipment such as manual-gauge tooling
- The operation of multi-axis CNC milling machine tools to produce various types of aerospace components
- Use the correct tools and equipment for the operation or work, including any relevant PPE provided
- You are required to adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and follow a set standard work routine to achieve the required output

Things to consider:
During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial block of study. You will return to your workplace one Friday per month. After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study. The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job.

Advanced apprenticeships entry requirements
You will need both of the following:
- GCSE English language C or 4 or above
- GCSE Maths C or 4 or above.
Applicants are also required to successfully complete a series of assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, as well as an employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme.
